Can I use low odor strain and no tent??

Can I avoid using a grow tent and inline duct fans if I use a low odor strain? I want to do this in my future apartment closet. I'm wanting to keep my grow simple.

I want to grow in soil and have a minimal # of plants probably 6, and as tall as my light and closet ceiling will allow and have 2-3 grows per year max to yield me enough to smoke two fat bowls a night, I'm guessing that will require around 1-2 ounces per month, at 2 ounces per month that'd be 24 ounces per year.

If I had 6 plants in soil growing as tall as the closet ceiling and light would allow do you think I could have enough to have a comfortable yield?

I know peeps are saying that I'm too concerned about yield but if I don't yield a comfortable amount what would be the point in growing.

Man, their is no such thing as a marijuana plant that won't ever stink.Sorry to sound harsh. For six plants that tall, it's going to stink, big time. Hell, one plant during flowering will make noses twitch. My advice is put effort into stink control, not finding plants that won't stink. Plus, for 1 1/2 lbs a year indoors, asking for no stink is like asking a woman to grow a penis on a strong will alone. It won't happen. ( Hilary Clinton doesn't count)

Haha lol. Yeah so I gotta do the grow tent. But since it's at an apartment I can't route the ducting outside so I'm gonna use a carbon filter 6" or 4" and put the carbon filter outside the tent and hope that the smell is down considerably .

Do 6 plants need a 400 or 600 watt light? And I'd rather not use an air cooled light do u think it's necessary? I don't want to have to have an aircooled light cuz I'll have to find out what to do with the ventilation system and number of holes in my tent.

I have five plants under a 400 and they are monsters. over five feet. I'd say you could achieve your goal with two plants, easily. Yield has almost nothing to do with how many plants you have, and everything to do with how much light you have. more yield = more light = more heat = more smell. Do you see now that your desire to have six plants over six feet tall, that yield a few ounces per cycle, and don't smell, is basically a fairy tale? heat needs to be vented. period.

If you are more concerned with smell, and being too lazy to figure out a simple air-cooled lighting setup, than go with a smaller wattage grow with LEDs (expensive) or CFLs (lower yielding).

^This is good to read, FYI.. On average expect to pull one gram per watt. That's give or take. The larger the light, the larger the chances of breaking one gram per watt. Expecting to pull what you need, as singerdale said, will only take two plants. Hell, for that matter you would be just fine with even a 250 watt system. And lastly, LED or CFL technology is worth looking into in your case because of your needs..Hell, even with CFL or LED I would still some form of reccomend decent fresh air-flow. So go with the idea of adding a carbon scrubber and other measures to prevent stink. Your yield won't be as great with LED or CFL either when compared to equivalent HID systems..So if you end up planning for an intake and exhaust system, you may as well go with HPS or MH afterall.

If you want max yeild you don't need to veg them for a long time. LST and topping will double or even triple your yeild in the same amount of growth time. It will take you a few grows of trial and error to get that perfect even canopy down to a fine art - but it is worth it.

Grow smarter.

Okay thanks gotta start somewhere, just trying to get a general starting point. I must use inline duct fans and light cooling to make sure everything goes smooth and less smelly.

I think most grow tents only have two ports. So how can I cool a light and vent the smell to my in closet carbon filter? How many fans would I need? can you kinda give me a text description of what would work best for light cooling and smell dissipation using carbon filter?

So you think two plants could yield my goal of two fat bowls a nigh or moret? I have bi-polar and smoking helps, minus the pressure parents put and significant other put on me for doing something illegal in my state.

You should consider waiting until you've got the right place to grow, in that case. It sounds like there are more people that know about your operation than should(ideally, nobody should know unless they've got a hand in it). It also sounds like you are going about this some-place that isn't under your rules. Put things into perspective. It's not only a huge risk for you, but you may not understand what an undertaking the whole process is either. Pro and con this situation before you move further.

What about a rented house? Yeah I think an apartment would be suicide.

I'd change the lock on the bedroom door, use carbon scrubber, negative ion generator possibly, and use odor control products like fabrize, or build the liquid fabrize bucket and fan deal.

If I get caught in the rented house all I will say to the cops is that I grow for my bipolar which is 100% true. And it's for personal use only.

A tent is not gonna conceal the smell..

Might as well grow em out in the corner of a room, or closet.

I have had great luck with Northern Lights #5.

Ultra low odor, big buds, easy to grow.

Super good smoke too!! :)

I'm still debating if I should grow in an apartment. If I just put the 2-6 plants in the corner in my bedroom closet do you think the northern lights or G13 Haze would smell all the way to the entrance if the appt peeps tape a notice on the inside of my appt door?

If you use a good smell covering technique, carbon filtering and things like that you might be able to get away with it. If you actually decide to go with the grow, i would use the northern lights. But honestly man I am not sure if the risk is worth it

i would go with 2 at most if your worried bout smell that much. i have one girl and without closet door shut it leaks all the way down hallway

most of the odor that people notice usually comes during the drying and curing process. If you have trouble keeping the living plants odor under control, you're screwed at harvest.
