My 7 foot tall plant doesn't smell like marijuana at all. Unless you rub on it...

I am super confused. I have a 7 foot tall plant growing in my closet. It has never smelled... like anything. If I touch a bud then smell my hand it smells like marijuana but otherwise you can't smell anything in there at all. Just smells like any other plant. The buds on it are pretty big... like 6-7 inches long and 3 inches in diameter.

What would cause a plant to not stink? I tried drying out a bud and it still doesn't stink. I am super confused. There is a lot of trichs on the plant too.

Information about the closet grow: 29% humidity. 5 gallon bucket with holes in the bottom. (2) 150 watt CFL and (1) 100watt HPS. 12/12 light cycle.

The age of this plant it shocking. I planted it in November and vegged it until it was almost 6 feet tall.

Why won't it stink? Can I Make a change during the last month of its life before I cut it down to make it smell stronger?

The title scared me. I was curious how you were rubbing on it.....:-P

No smell is definitely a very positive trait...... wish I had your problem

I have 1 sour diesel that smells my whole property up lol. Maybe I should cut a lot of clones off this plant. Or is it too late to cut clones?

Thanks for getting back to me so fast! I was very shocked to see all the responses already lol. I am glad to hear that this probably won't affect the power of the smoke.

Yeah the terpenes are responsible for the smell of marijuana as well as some of its effects when smoked. Terpenes show up in different amounts and combinations due to the genetics. This is why different strains have different smells and effects. Your plants genetics obviously has a lower number and/or different combination of terpenes.

The smell could and will increase late in bud production as the plant is forcing out the most trichomes it can. Dont worry though the lack of smell does not necessarily mean it wont be good smoke.

It's normal for some strains not to smell much. It's also normal for weed not to smell much until the last 1-3 weeks.

And it's ok to rub on it. Just don't let anyone see you rubbing it, they'll think you're weird.

Also a plant of that size should take longer to come to complete maturity than the tipical 9weeks. Be patient.

Mate what does the top of your plant look like? what ratio of sativa/indica? If it's spindly at the top, chances are it could be hemp.
I recently got screwed... i veged what was supposed to be white widow for a month, now 10 weeks into flower, it has no smell at all, the internodes are spaced widely apart and hasn't shown any signs of filling out. It is now almost 5 times the height from veg, another reason why i think it's hemp and definitely not white widow.

Since it's a closet grow you should be happy as hell. I have had great strains that don't smell like much until you rub them and then it's mild. That really doesn't have a hell of a lot to do with the high. Keep the strain. If it is potent as well as light scented it is the perfect secret grow plant.

It's in your closet. so you live with it daily. Perhaps that's why you are not smelling it.

Im believing this along with it possibly being a low odor strain is your culprit. I would be happy if I had plants that didnt stink, mine all wreek starting at about the 2nd week of veg

Your growing low odor home grown strains...... bag seed. The high is good, the butter they make is insane.. the good guys that advanced your strain did so for closet growing. be happy the neighbors have not detected it and told on ya yet. Light a leaf on fire.... you'll get your stink factor.

400 watts, 7 feet tall, vegged until 6ft and gained 1 ft during flower, doesn't smell like weed - sounds like a pine tree m8

If you actually are growing a weed plant tho.. don't worry about smell; it's not indicative of anything but esthetics. Doesn't have an affect on potency one bit.
