ok, so im really cheap and broke,, and i have been given a 400w hps ballast , reflector, and used bulb. the guy said the bulb works but he thinks it should be changed every 2nd grow,,

this particular bulb has been used under a 12/12 regim for 3 grows at 60 days each pop, so 180 days running on 12/12, CAN I STILL USE THIS LIGHT <? OR HAS IT LOST MOST OF ITS JUICE??

also.. just thought i would say that it is a good idea of writing down somewhere so that you will have it for safe keeping what date you changed the bulb, so that you will have it for later refference and will know when it is time to change her again..

Yep, HD and Lowes both carry HPS bulbs but only up to 400w. You can find them cheaper online, so I would only buy them from there if you had an emergency and needed a bulb fast.

well at times ive saw them on sale for like 15 dollars i believe. if you order online sure you might save a few bux but when you factor in shpping and then the wait. id say its worth the extra few dollars to be able to come home with it right away. to each their own though.

and yea the homedepot sells these in the light bulb section they are made by sylvania and are for the Standard S51 socket. they work really well for their price.

thanks for the rep :)

id also like to point out i did a back to back grow, from clones i duplicated everything as good as i could. and the home depot Sylvania HPS bulb performed just as well as the AgroMax bulb sold at HTG for almost 70 dollars.

Bud weight in final product was very close, and consistency they were all tight buds.i could tell no difference. although the Agromax is a great bulb too, i just was not able to find any data that justified spending an extra 50 dollars on a 400watt bulb.

id also like to say i use CFL and flourscent supplimental lighting around the plants a total of about 400 ACTUAL watts of CFL's and Tube Flourscents (t-8's) and i also have an additional 150 ACTUAL watts of 10% UVB lighting. and the 400hPS overhead.
