Anybody know a good place for cheap hydro halos? They seem to run $10 a piece which seems a bit overpriced in my opinion.

any alternative solutions/off brands?

It currently takes about 3 minutes to get runoff with my lines just tee'd and free flowing. It runs for another minute after runoff begins just to ensure complete saturation. Anything bad about a longer watering period?

Damn! $10 for that? I'd just make my own. No way I'd pay that for what it is. Interesting that this thread was made today as I was making some drip rings for my tomatoes this morning. I just went out and made a water ring in a couple minutes. I just used some 1/4" tubing but you can use any size. It's just some tubing connected to a T fitting. Crazy what they charge for stuff intended for cannabis growers. I guess people are willing to pay these ridiculous prices. But not me. I've always been a DIY type of guy if it saves me money.

You can get 50" of 1/4" tubing for $4.95 at DripWorks or 1/2" for $13.95. T fittings are .69¢. You can also get any of the materials at Home Depot, Lowes, etc... for about the same price.

what are you using to poke holes in the bottom of the 1/4in tubing and 1/2 tubing?

I'm actually surprised no one is 3D printing them, but then again maybe someone is...lol
Any friend that have a 3D printer? :P
what kind of printer are you using? I’d imagine FDM would be a bit tricky and need support structures. Would be awesome to do something custom if sintered or lithographed

I just used a drill. It probably isn't worth the hassle for just a couple but if you need more than five you can get enough materials to make them for the cost of a few of those and make dozens. It's also a good idea to use an adjustable manifold with them as well. But you probably already know that.

Beyond knowing they exist and there are many different printing mediums, I know nothing about them really. Someday I would like to build one, but for now it seems a bit pricey of a hobby and I still have lots to buy for this hobby. ;P

thank you for the tutorial; what manifold are you running? Let’s say I make them all out of half inch tubing, did you make a pvc manifold with multiple T’s that have barbed fittings?

You're using 1/2" for the rings? You can buy adjustable 8 port manifolds that connect to a 1/2" line but the 8 outlets are 1/4 inch. They only cost about $10 on Amazon. Might even have them at Home Depot or Lowes. If you want 1/2" rings then you'll probably need to make it yourself which isn't hard. PVC is cheap but the valves cost a couple bucks a piece.

I'm not running a manifold. I grow in coco with blumats or soil but years ago I was really big into hydro. I built a flood and drain system out of PVC and 2 liter pop bottles.

I built a few of these years ago.
