Man these plants are hardy!

So the story goes like this;

I was having strange mosaic patterns appearing on my seedlings. So I tried just basic soil and rain water for these two - both still had this mottling effect.

I started again and did rain water vs decholrinated tap water (35ppm so pretty clean)

One had this mottling effect the other didn’t. so my water source was to blame.

Now I had no use for this seedling so she was left in the cold potting shed. Then I thought I’ll see how tough these plants are. I opened her up to check her roots and the root all snapped in half. So I chucked the rest of it in a pot with some water and stuck her in the cold greenhouse - this was December 14th before the





Now she withstood an average temperature of about 5c. Took on multiple frosts. Incredibly low light with thick cloud cover. Only 7hrs of daylight here @ 58’ North.

So not bad for over 3 months! Hahah

She is a northern lights auto.

Ya she's alive, but not happy, lol. Kidding man. I love it. They really are hardy little plants.

It’s amazing. Only watered her once in 3 months - it’s that cold and damp!

Going to repot her when it gets warmer here and might even get a little harvest who knows.

Well she survived the cold and starting to get a little warmer/sunnier here. She’s now almost 4 months old haha.

debating re-potting her as she still hasn’t showed any signs of flowering yet.

See, I told you they're tough bitches, lol. I'd transplant her into a bigger pot with good soil though.

God made them one of the hardiest plant for a reason, same reason that its the only plant in the world where God shows us the males so we can remove them for sensi.

Yeah it’s mental. Although they wouldn’t germinate in these cold conditions it does show you the will to live.

Just potted her up there - only had a small 1gal pot left buts it’s better than half a litre ha.

Bigger pots will also better insulate the roots, therefore keeping the roots and soil warmer. Better yet is to dig a hole in the ground.

It almost looks like the growth youd see on a monster cropped clone, with the odd serrations on the leaves.

Pretty amazing how resilient these things are to dying. Always fun to see how much abuse people can put them through. Almost as satisfying as seeing bud pics to be honest xD

Wish I could but folks are avid gardeners and visit quite a bit. Pot keeps her mobile haha. Unless we are quarantined for 9 weeks haha.

Yeah I kept the healthily one until early flower then got rid of it as I needed the space for strains I was more interested in.

Here is the last pic I had at around 5 weeks - it pre-flowered at around the 3-4week mark. It’s the big one at the back.

I do wonder if high temperatures causes autos to flower early? I mean if a seed pops on a rudarelis in mid March it’s not going to be 70’ at night... also note how there is not a shade of purpling?

Next run I’m going to have cooler nights and see if I can prelong there veg just a little - If it’s slightly controllable then you could do more training etc.

plants have an internal clock and count/go by day. I suspect that has been layed "on ice" by the exposure to the cold - metabolism drives down tremendously. So they survive...

dont grow autos indoor, or just veg them indoors and flower outdoors in summer.

Definitely slowed down!

Autos are good indoors if you can manage the conditions. Best during winter months here.

So nice and warm past few days and she’s starting to find her new root space.

Has a lovely sweet skunk smell.

Had a cold snap a week or so ago. Down to 27f outdoors. About 37f in the greenhouse. Didn’t like it at all after the warm spell. Bad iron deficiency stunted her for a week or so but it’s warming up again now 62f today and nights have been much warmer about 50f. She is much happier now.

Wish I had gone a bigger pot (only 1.5gal) but should get some smoke at least!

Flowering Is kicking into gear now. Left her outside by accident one night. Had to be a cold windy night too which made her go super purple!

Strange how purpling only occurred during flowering and not veg when exposed to lower temps.

yeah, maybe bigger pot from earlier on would be better, hope it will be killer smoke! ive done a search for cold resistant strains, might be helpfull as well. good luck
