Yet in 2000 500000 more Americans voted for the Democrats then the Republican party. So why the fuck didn't the Democrats that have won since not fix the system when they could?
Popular Vote | Winner: 50,456,062 | Main Opponent: 50,996,582 |
You sound like Trump claiming the deep state controls everything. Whats your solution drain the swamp?
Americans have wanted to abolish the electoral college for decades. Unfortunately, we can't. The Congress has to do that and they musts do it by a 2/3rds majority in both houses. The people of the United States have no say in the matter.
Every time it has ever happened is down to one thing: Whoever controls the majority in the house of representatives. Since in 2000 the republicans controlled the house, they had more electoral votes just as they did in 2016.
The way the college is
SUPPOSED to work, is that the representative votes the same way the constituents of thier district they represent voted. So if the people of the 7th district of Georgia voted for Hillary Clinton, then our representative should vote the same way.
They didn't do that. They voted along party line in direct conflict to how the people actually voted.
Of the 5 times it's happened in the 243 year history of the United States, only republicans have done it.
