Pop up temporary greenhouse

Sooooo my plants didn't want to start flowering for crap this year. Normally going from 18/6 and putting them outside it pretty well kick starts that flower cycle. One did but not as quickly as I'd hope, but my other one took for damn ever. Tiny buds all over but nothing to be even slightly excited for just yet. I estimate I got about a month left roughly. Maybe month and a half at absolute max. On and off rains, tons of morning due starting, winds and dropping night temps to like 9° had me make up a plastic wrap greenhouse. I put four large wooden stakes into the ground around it with room to breathe so to speak. Has a door and a couple air holes on the sides. Seems to be all happy about it lol. Buds didn't seem drenched in due either which I'd think is good especially with days getting colder and shorter. Has anyone else here tried making a pop up cheap greenhouse?
I plan on building a proper decent sized one next year for sure. Not worried about thieves or cops as its legal in Canada and I'm medical. Anyone had actual luck with using a greenhouse for cannabis as well? Sounds tricky during the summers. I'd imagine you would just have to leave vents on the roof open as well as whatever you could on the walls as well or face high humidity.

I have every intention of building one up next year. I mentioned it I'm pretty sure in my post. If not then my bad lol. But yeah this "thing" lol for now is just a temporary one as I didn't expect flowering to Kickstart so late. Just an oopsy hence temporary pop up. No headache yet. Took me about 20 mins to do up and cost me about 10$ lol. Next year I'm wanting to build a prefab greenhouse of course. I am asking about luck with greenhouses as well as to see if it's a good idea or not. Not to sure how great they would be during the dead of summer. I looked up the one you sent as an attachment and it has awful reviews. People say a good wind took the entire thing down. Or a windy day just knocks the panels out as well. If and when I grab one I'll be looking for something nice and sturdy in that respect. I get that one probably let's you remove window panels for venting but I don't want them removing themselves on a windy day is all lol.

I hear you ... this really wasn't too complicated to build.. it's essentially a 3' fence with a railing, and a hoophouse on top of that ... I had the windows laying around in my garage for years so I used those, but you could easily use regular storm windows or something cheaper like that

In the past I would always put up temporary shelter or just bring the plants into the garage when bad weather was coming. What I used to do for temp shelter was hammer a 3-4' 2x2 (deck balusters) into the ground every 3 ft down each side as ground posts... then I would just bend 1 1/4" pcv hoops from one side to the other and slide the ends of the pvc into the ground posts... i wouldn't even secure the pvc to the ground posts, the tension would hold them in place.... I could put this up in less than an hour and take it down in even less time.

In my opinion... if your growing outside, a shelter isn't an option.... it's a necessity. There's way too much effort that goes into this to lose it all in a matter of minutes... or worse... chopping early

The pop up would eliminate any worry of too much heat or trapping humidity during the summer, you could just put it up in the fall. If you want something sturdy and more permanent, Vesey's seeds sells one with polycarbonate panels. They're based in PEI too, so no customs charges to deal with.

It only goes up to 6'8", but @stealthfader508 is right about making a frame to put it on, if your plants usually get too tall for that. It is pretty expensive though.

Very slick indeed. I know what my project this upcoming spring next year will be. I got medical now and am aloud I believe it's like 11-14 or so outdoors, so this greenhouse should help that alot for sure. Plus it will make it more difficult for these God damn plant thieves in my neighbourhood. Give my doggo an extra couple seconds to get to them and begin their process of regretting life choices lol. Just last night some jerk tried doing that to a neighbour. My other neighbour picked it up on his scanner that cops were called to that house for a giant street fight gotta love Canada from time to time lol

LOL the mean streets of Canada... i have cameras everywhere... nowadays their too cheap not too ... I'm also using a Ring doorbell out there so if any unwanted guests came through not only will I have them on camera, but I could have a conversation with them

good question, I'm not really sure yet... i built this throughout this season, a couple hours each week when I could find the time, and it's only been covered for a week or two now.. right now I have 4 good sized fans running constantly with all windows open, and the temperature inside is only one or two degrees higher than the outside temp ... the plan all along was to install a 24" greenhouse fan above the door and a vent on the opposite end wall to clear any heat trapped in the dome, but so far I definitely don't have any need for that this season ... next summer the plan is to take the sashes out of all windows leaving just the screens, and if I find that I'm having trouble with heat I'll install the fan and vent ... worst case scenario if I can't control the heat with fans and ventilation, I'll just pull the cover off about June 1 and put it back on Sept 1... the film is all attached with wiggle wire so installing the film only took about an hour or two and it wouldn't be a big deal

Yeah I saw your night pic of the ladies, looks nice man. I’m in Ontario as well (Sudbury) it’s pretty shitty here too lately but finally the buds seem to be starting.

Yeah. All this damn rain and nightly temp drops have been rediculous. Really glad I made the shrink wrap pop up this year. Absolutely grabbing a greenhouse next year. Probably make one mind you but still. But they seem to be growing happier lately so. Guessing it's helping for sure.
