Hey guys, I was mainlining my gorilla zkittlez I think a bit too early, and I tore one of the branches right where it touches the main....I have it bonded back to the stem with tape, will it eventually completely heal itself back to the main? If so, will it be alright to mainline it once it heals, or am I just going to re-snap it because it's weak? Thanks for the help, sorry I'm without pictures. I have no camera.

It will probably be fine and heal itself, but it's hard to tell without pics. I did that to my Green Crack and it healed fine. The main stem is still split down the middle where I damaged it. It's kinda crazy looking but its happy as can be. I don't have a pic of the split and they're sleeping now, but it's the one on the left.
Yeah, even while 50% torn, it's still growing up toward the light, so it's not TOO mad at me, I'm just curious as to whether it heals itself stronger, or weaker, so that I know whether to attempt mainlining that plant or not...
While I've got you here too, can I ask 1 more thing about mainlining since your plants look beautifly done? ...I have topped and defoliated my plants, and the 2 stems at node 3 that I've topped it down to have been growing out for a few days, and they seem to each have 4 nodes on them, not 2. Do I want to top them down to 2 nodes, or let all 4 nodes grow out? I'm real sorry if it's impossible to answer without pictures. I am camera-less.

Often times those become the strongest parts of the plant. You will likely be great there. Let it do its thing and give it time to heal. Plant knows what to do. On your end, make sure not to add any more stress/weight. Get the break supported or wrapped. Little extra K and Ca for strength in veg!

Ya it can heal stronger like Burns said. My only concern was it wanting to split apart more when the buds started getting some weight since it's split down the center, but so far so good. I'll have to get a pic of it tonight when the lights come on. I do have yoyo's holding up a couple of colas already, but that's more to support the buds than the plant cause they're starting to put on some weight.
I use clones so I just have to decide which branches I keep, then chop the rest. Sometimes I'll leave 2 branches and do the traditional mainlining like the Green Crack, and other times I will leave 3 or 4. It's just kinda a judgement call with clones since they don't grow symmetrically. If I only leave 2 I just have to top it once more. And you can pick which nodes you want to keep depending on how you want your plant to grow. When I top, I just pick off the newest tip and the earlier shoots. Leaving the 2 you want to keep of course. Like I said it's a judgment call for me, hope that makes sense.

Damn, someone knows what they're doin. Nice lookin grow man. Thanks for comin back to me and helpin me out some more. I will just be real nice to the wound I've made, and bend it elsewhere once I see the knuckle form. I can already tell thats exactly what it's doing, and my tear isn't nearly as bad as yours looks. Do you also have nothing holding that up?? That's another question that I think I might already know the answer to....but why not ask, you seem helpful. (I'm assuming the answer is, "it depends on your plants") But, do the buds get so huge on mainlined plants that the majority of them need to be propped up? You seem to have some serious serious bud weight there, but since you've mainlined the plant to become perfectly symettrical, is the plant holding itself up for you? That is what I'm hoping for of course. I have 5 plants and only 1 tomato cage for now.

My plant is no way perfectly symmetrical since it's a clone, but I try to make em as close as possible. And I did have to add a few plant yoyo's to about 4-5 tops so far. As they start to look like they're gonna lean, I add one. I have twine hung around the top of the closet, and just clip the yoyo's on the twine or a light hanger. I love these things. I also used silica this time so my stems are a little stronger and so I won't need as many this time. I did 1 tomato cage last time and liked it, but I think I'm liking yoyo's better.
