Topping plants

So I've never topped my plants before, but I plan to top and use scrog method this time.
I've researched a ton on it, but I would like some input from actual people with experience.
I'm trying to decide whether to top them once or twice.
At what point (how many tops) does it start reducing your yield?
And topping once compared to twice, approximately how much veg time should I add for the recovery time?

I top 3 times. This gives me 8 main branches. I supercrop them. Added veg time depends on a lot of things including lights, temperatures etc. Suggest letting the plant get some decent stem development before starting. The increase in yield makes the extra time worth it.

SCROG for flower with a shaped canopy already.

At what node should looked I first top?
The seedlings are just starting their 4th and 5th set of leafs but dont really have their own node yet.20181104_145615.jpg
