We all use the same spray heads mate. And I'm not arguing at all. I'm just saying, why WOULDNT YOU USE a filter bag? All its going to do is benefit the situation and prevent clogging of the sprayer heads. I wouldn't run without one.
I was just saying the filter and R/O water aren't a NECESSITY and great cloning results can be had without them. The bag is a great tool to have IF you have clogging issues. Just going off of what was inferred. I use tap only, unless I'm experimenting. Even when I feed nutes to the clones in the cloner(from having them in there longer than anticipated) I don't get clogs. Either way, filter or no filter, the aerocloner will clone successfully.

Lol there's my filter @Airwalker16. Haven't put it back on in a few months. I forgot to when I dusted off the cloner and cleaned it out. Now that I am running megacrop, I will use the bag when the clones get hungry. MC leaves a little bit of shit behind.

No prob @ INF Flux glad I could help. I've been using the same timer for 3 years. Had one crap out from dropping it, but they are so cheap and easy to build. I keep two on deck when needed.
just something I'd never considered. I'm cozy with creating circuits, now I'm thinking about a cuckoo clock to run the on off, just because it'd be fun. I do love it when simple slaps me in the face. Thanks again, good share.

That's a dope ass diy cloner sure wish I had that bitch I'm just throwing clones in a plastic snap together and hoping for the best lmao good work man
A 2.5 gal bucket, a $8.00 fountain pump from Harbor freight, about 2 ft of 1/2" pic and 4 -6 1/2" pic elbows depending on manifold design, and you are an aero cloning machine!!! $25 eager if you have some of the ish laying around. Used pool noodles for my holders.

No prob Duke, glad I can actually help someone. I've used and picked RIU's member's brains for a while now, lurking and as a member. Shit, Airwalker helped me out I. The led forums waaaaaaay back during the cob days.lol

I'd like to see that cuckoo timer. Neat shit.

So, seems I'm in the right place to ask this. I've struggled with this system a bit. It's working now, but still not 100% Put it on a timer, THANKS, to everyone who mentioned that.
I added a cheap $10 pond mister from amazon in a float. I do feel it upped my success rate. Anyone else try this? Thoughts? Doing more a dwc than op's setup now. View attachment 4210644
What's the humidity in the cloning area? Also, try leaving no more than 1.5" of stem under the puck. I've found the less stem I can leave under the puck while still enough to support the clone, the better faster they root. Haven't used a fogger so I won't comment on that. I'm sure it'll aid in different root development once they do start to nub...i.e. more abundant.

Between 50% and 65% with the very rare spike from weather. This in not in a fully enclosed environment. When it's not making canna clones it keeps tasty herbs and greens going until consumed so in the kitchen. All ready thinking that's bad as I type. Should I build another and put it in my grow space? Not giving up my fresh seasonings and the cannabis seems to be way more stubborn than cabbage or basil or tomatoes, whatever.

Here's a tip, if you use a 5 gal bucket, they have cake carriers aat the dollar store that are the Perfect Dome for 5gals. In your case though, take measurements of your tote and try to find a 4-8" tall CLEAR TUB to put on upside down on them to make a dome. That way you can spray it down with a bottle of water and keep them humid the first 3-5 days.

Ya I hate those bulky zipper bags. You gotta get the drawstring type like in the link I posted originally.

Oh wow this post blew up!! lmao!!
So I went with 21 because ill only need 12 at a time.
The net pots seem to be sealing the lids holes well enough that they dont leak and my box choice with the dropped in lids prevents leaking out the side so thats a positive.

I found a company called dyna-gro. They have a liquid rooting agent called KLN thats supposed to work well with hydro and aero. They also recommend their silicon solution called pro-tekt, so ill be giving that a try too. It was under $20 for small bottles of both of them.

I was concerned about clogging so found this recommended by some cloning bloggers that use the same sprayer heads and figured id give it a try

I have a 200 gallon tank of RO thats literally 2ft away from my cloning "station" so ill be using RO in that as well.

@Airwalker16 thats pretty smart using a shorter clear tub, i did not think of that! I just made a little enclosure with mylar sheets around the box to try to hold more humidity in.
Now that its getting colder outside and ive closed the windows, humidity its staying around 40-50% down in the basement where everything is. All of my seedlings did fine down there without a dome so i figured id probably be ok without one.

I had also looked at adding a pond mister or ultrasonic fogger into it too, but i couldnt decide which one to try.

Cycling the pump is just for water temp right? Ill have to keep an eye on that and figure out an on/off schedule.
It is also close to the outside res for my big setup, i had considered the idea of putting feet on the manifold and having the pump push through a length of tubing that goes down into my other res thats chilled to 66 to cool it down a bit before going to the manifold. Unsure if i want to do this yet or not. Could be a solution if I have temp issues.

Warm water is better for clones. But not hot.

Yeah just looping it through would keep it a bit lower.
Going to buy a little temp probe for this box I think. Something that just has a little lcd display
A small 80-150gph submersible on and off in 15 minute intervals will keep your water a great temp. The temp probe isn't a bad idea though, they're a measly $3-5 online.

I've been doing a lot of reading since building my own cloner yesterday to save my root rotted girls with cuttings. In terms of a dome most if not all things I've researched said that a dome is actually counter productive for aero cloner. There were a bunch of believable reasons given that all sounded true. Anyone on here have an opinion on using domes with aero cloners?

I tried my 400gph pump and it couldn't even push enough pressure through 18 sprayers to get anything more than a stream coming out. Ended up disconnecting my 1000gph from my undercurrent, since the system is sick, and now its kicking ass. Right now I'm hoping the pump will be enough to keep the water temp warm without cooking it.

By the way OP yours looks way better than mine. I ran out of paint and had to go the truly ghetto route unfortunately. One thing is might it be better to paint the lid white or do you not want that kind of reflectivity or need that amount of heat blockage when cloning?

Not trying to steal the OP's thread just thought I could add to the discussion with my own questions. Right now I'm just running spring water with no nutes, a little bit of silica and hth pool shock. Anything else I should be doing to keep my girls success rate up?

Man that is a fancy cloner, very well done OP.

I like to keep it simple, with no potentials to go wrong...with no maintennace

nothing but tap water
warm temps (80's F)
stems slightly submerged
i use a dome

9 days ready, didnt touch them once..... if you need more cuttings just make it larger or poke more holes

one of the biggest things in clones is taking them from healthy mothers. If you're starting with plants with rot issues, your overall success rate will likely be lower.

I was more concerned about blocking the light from the water. I've tried doing lids white and you have to paint it really really thick to stop the light. I just sprayed on a thick coating of plastidip and if you hold it directly up to the light, nothing comes through now.

I agree about healthy mothers healthy clones and is what I was really worried about as well. I read up on it for a couple days while I decided on my cloner design. Out of many threads on cannabis and on other plants as well I didn't find a concerning number of people who had this experience surprisingly.

It will be interesting to see how it goes and I admit there would appear to be an increased chance of failure. I did my best to sterilize every inch of the cuttings. I sprayed them down with an h2o2 and silica solution the minute I cut them. I can say they look better than they did in the main system after 12 hours. Honestly though they could all die tomorrow.
