Why people don’t train their plants?

Do you train your plants?

Hi all,

Just a general thing, I’ve read a lot about plant training technics and of course there are many solutions.

Still... when I’m browsing on forums I see a lot of untrained plants on grow journals.

If the training is increasing your final yield with a little added effort why people are not doing it??

Is it a big deal to bend the main stem into a direction? :D

Anyway, I created a poll because I’m curious about the result so if you could vote please, thank you.

idk I see lots of training going on. LST, topping, staking, scrog etc. I always train my ladies to perform there best and to fit my grow. mainly LST and topping. I have a sour kosher in flower mode now that I topped, LST then bent the tallest branches at a literal 90 degree bend. also my buds always need to be staked up at least by the last 3-4 weeks of flower if not earlier.

Working 70 hrs a week might cut into play time. Why don't some people tend to their fuckin kids? Really a silly question.

Growing space/height is usually a big factor in scrogging and such. Time is also a factor and most training techniques slow down the vegging process. Some growers are just hippies letting nature do it's own thing. Many reasons really

Depends I’ve had strains take well to training and some that don’t. My rooms are plenty big enough that it won’t hurt me whether I train or not. Some it’s personal preference as well. The bigger your grow the less likely you need to train. Training will indeed maximize your final yield and it’s the best way to get more out of a small space.

For example you can get tricky and bend em over like @MichiganMedGrower and if you go back and forth with the plants you cant get a pretty tightly packed canopy just by bending em over

You just gota try em all once to see what you like.
I find my self getting lazier when it comes to pla t training

My last scrogs i just grew bushy by pinching
And just trhew the net on top and sqished em all level lol

I work under low ceilings so like said above I do what I have to to make it all fit and work. It’s all tools to make our own situation produce what we need.

1-3 plants yeah, you can ocd on canopy training. More than that... Fux those plants. ;-)

No ceiling space? Switch to LEDs. Save 3ft of vertical.

Looks good, I don't have patience or extra time for that.
Yep, everyone does what they need to :)

Ill always keep the scrog net on that half of the room just helps max it out more evenly

The other half of the room im building a no training seed running table been seeing lots of guys kill from seed/low veg time im going to try it

Many ways to SHAPE grows ... LST , monster , Supercrop, scrog , lollipop , cage grows verticals ( @ttystikk ) , mainlining, bonsai , topping , fimming or combos of each .

I play with them once in awhile , I mainline , top , FIM , LST and even back build buds once in awhile . Mostly out of boredom ... Lol . But they all have their place in the garden .
Even defol on leaves help sometimes , just comes down to knowing what your strains act like in the garden. I've clipped an 1/8" off buds to widen the nug growth No real weight added just nicer looking flowers. I think the only technique that SHOULD be done on the regular is pinching off unproductive baby buds and lanky sucker branches. You can top a plant several times to increase yield , making 8 tops into 16 , etc.

Have you tried any yourself ?

I dont know, i know my ocd gets the best of me sometimes haha
I saw a few empty spots in my net lolView attachment 4119440

You kidding. I want to grab something and fill the hole from here. :-)

Conversely. I let each different stage/plant/ pheno/cross grow in its own space hoping to get as much potential as it can give me and harvest every 10 days or so a different flower for constant variety available. Without going over 12 plants of course. Lol.

A new veg plant transplanted into a 3 gallon pot about a week ago will go in the space there.

Plants already in flower were grown 12/12 from the start this group only.

Nice ,constant harvests mean lots of variety. i like it.

When i do seed runs i generally let them go untopped so i can see the traits as well
