Jakobs' decaff is better than their regular coffee, but the price is nuts these days.
It really helps if you have stomach issues to switch away from caffeine.

That's what Zantac was invented for, I get a box of generic 300mg ones every now and then thanks to a stomach ulcer caused by ibuprofen

I try to keep it down to two pots per day nowadays, but it has to be decent coffee because the "brand name" stuff in the stores here just sets my stomach acid haywire. Switched to decent beans to grind myself and haven't had to pop a Zantac in at least 6 months, and even the cheap "Mokka" pre-ground coffee from Lidl here doesn't give me any issues.

And before anyone asks, my blood pressure is fine, always steady around 110/80 but that's helped with the beta-blocker I ended up on thanks to work-related stress a few years back (we got that sorted out quick once I told the boss that if he didn't get the problem sorted I would be out the door and he would be getting a LOT of questions asked from various authorities if he didn't). In fact, I've just had mug number 4 and my BP is 119/83 with a heart rate of 68 which is pretty damn good for someone who goes through tobacco and coffee at the rate I do.

My blood pressure is always on the low side.., They gave me some meds for it as a kid, but I just got used to it being like that over the years. my heart is nicely fucked though I have one stent in already.

Since I was coming up to the big 5-0 I was thinking about getting a full checkup on the heart and everything, but finding out I had old fat bastard diabetes when my foot went up like a balloon (no other symptoms whatsoever) brought all that forward a bit.

Was happy as when the cardiologist did his work, despite decades of "misbehaving" I found out my heart is as strong as a bull on steroids so all I needed was a slight change in diet and a drop in the blubber.

As I say, when I croak my final croak my body is to go to medical science because how in hell's name I've lasted this long is a mystery so someone will want to know why.

Nothing wrong with a good cup of Rosie, but, like coffee, it has to be decent stuff.

And the Bergamot in Earl Grey has been proven to be a means to help lower your "bad" cholesterol levels if you have problems there.

It's a tongue in cheek joke; we had a sock here a few years ago that sounds exactly like the OP and he went on about a 2 week jag about "have a cuppa tea"

I'd absolutely love to see the peer reviewed studies on that.
I'll see if I can dig up the Italian one from, I think, 2012, they took a bunch of obese people and gave some an extract that was the equivalent of 3 cups of Earl Grey per day and in three months the "bad" cholesterol was down, "good" cholesterol up and blood sugar down when compared to the "control" group. There's been other studies since showing similar and you can even buy the bergamot as a supplement which does the same job.

It's all about one compound in the Bergamot called HMGF which does the dirty, and even though me and the missus were already on a low fat and "healthy" diet before my "problems" last year I know the rate things came into order with my statin intake being halved after only 5 months.

PS. Here's what happened when they did the experiment on rats

Black is the only way for me, but I'm picky.
Cheap coffee like Folgers & Maxwell House is disgusting. :spew:
I drink mine black, but I don’t have sophisticated taste. I will take gas station coffee over Starbucks every time, they have some of the worst coffee I ever had. Was in Vegas so I grabbed a Starbucks cuz it was right there, threw that shit away and got a much better free cup from the casino..
