Andrew's 2nd Indoor Grow

My "ph problem" was a lack of nutrients problem. I had mixed the Black Gold soil with a little bit of some old bagged compost, but not much. I was hoping I could just use the compost tea to give it enough nutrition. My hopes weren't worth shit.

It turned out I had a serious nitrogen deficiency and a couple leaves died off the biggest one. They were seriously droopy, yellowing from the bottom of the plant, and had almost stopped growing on Sunday. I added a little urine to the water I used that night. Then yesterday I got some granular organic fertilizer and Alaskan Fish Fertilizer from home depot. I mixed about 1/3 strength of the granular ferts in to the top of the soil and watered it in with a 1/2 strength fish fertilizer and compost tea.

They are perky and growing again as of checking tonight. Here's the proof:

I did a little LST on the bigger plants and transplanted the little guy.

I also added another LED that was donated to the project by my sensei. 280w actual draw LED in the tent now. I am planning to let them go a few more days so I can bend over the little guy, then transition to flower.

Little guy is a little droopy after the transplant, but I'm sure it'll be fine.

The little one was perky as could be this morning. The other two seem to be responding well to my little LST experiment.

I want to take a clone off of this one, but I have exactly zero experience doing that. It has responded very well to LST and grows quickly. It's a tiny bit drooped having just had her morning bending:

Thanks man. I read (and looked) at that thread for an hour the other night after looking at your thread.

It's pretty crazy to see the plants (and surprising yield) people get doing it that way.

I figured I'd take a couple quick pics and update for the weekend. I have to go out of town for the weekend, so they'll be left all alone. I gave them a feeding of fish fertilizer and a thorough soaking, so they should be good.

Next week I'll probably start adding maybe 10-20% Tiger Bloom mixed with fish fertilizer and start tapering toward only Tiger Bloom.

Well they survived a few days alone, almost like they are hardy plants that can grow almost anywhere on earth.

Plant structure is really becoming apparent on all of them, LST or not.

I say they are all females, but sensei says it's still too early to tell.

Well here we are, two weeks into flowering. Everything seems to be coming along nicely, as far as I can tell. I knocked down the fish fertilizer to about 1/2 strength from what I was feeding them and added in about 10% recommended Tiger Bloom when I fed them this morning.

I also added a top dressing of fresh soil with a little bit of some 4-5-6 granular organic tomato food into it, at about 20% recommended.

That's all for today. I am planning to ween down to almost no fish fertilizer in the next weeks feeding and up the tiger bloom just a little. Other than that, I'm just planning on riding it out and trying to pay attention to see if the plants need anything I'm not giving them.

I'm planning on remodeling my little space before I do another grow. Try to make it more like 2x4 or something. But when I do, I'm going to look into your recommendation.

I don't have a whole lot of experience with electronics, but I'm pretty mechanically inclined and a quick enough learner that I think I can figure out how to build one, especially in kit form.

I love these plants. They seem to respond well to everything I do. I almost feel like l am waiting for the other shoe to drop. The two tied down ones that are further along are getting a really strong sweet smell. It's tough to pinpoint exactly what I'd compare it to, but it's definitely sweet.

Saturday I accidentally broke a couple of leaves off of the untrained plant, but it still seems to be doing alright. Finally starting to throw out more pistols and catch up.

There are lots of pistols on the other two and the "less LST" one that seemed further ahead is already starting to fill in the stalk.

I transplanted the first two into 2 gallon smart pots yesterday morning. I'll probably leave them in there, but maybe not. We'll see.

There is plenty of healthy new growth on the bigger plants. But they are a little drippy compared to pre-transplant, but I gave them a nice compost tea feeding. Hopefully they'll perk back up with that in the next day or two.

The little guy is growing very slowly. I don't think it likes the low humidity much.




I also think I botched my little topping job on this guy. I think I just deformed the new leaves. But it didn't slow down the growth much. Needless to say, I don't think I'll get much of a topped or even fim'd effect.




Anyway, that's all. I'm smoking a bowl so I figured I'd update.

Botched topping can potentially lead to a F.I.M (fuck i messed up) when a topping doesnt go well. Can also create multiple tops, but most of the time just one.

I think it was just too young when I did it and it didn't do anything except regrow.

For reference it is the furthest to the left in my last post. It has a lot of bud sites, but I think that's just from tying her up.

You might be on to something. I tied that cola down to try to let the other ones catch up or pass it. I kept doing it for 3 weeks. Guess which one is still the tallest and strongest on the plant?

A couple days into the 4th week of flowering. The smell in the tent is transitioning from a real sweet smell to now there is some hints of diesel fuel/skunk coming every now and then when I'm working in the tent.

These damn plants just keep on stretching. I thought they were done, but I was wrong.

The little engine that could is over 30"+ tall now. The first one that I did more LST on, the lower shoots shot up all the sudden to catch up with the top.

I didn't take them out of the tent this morning to take pics, so hope for the best:

I really like these plants. I know they are nothing special, but they seem to be living up to their potential so far.

I'm going to give a more detailed up date this time:

The two that I used LST on were both bagseed found in the same exact nug in an unknown strain. I have them labeled as "Scrong" and "Lanky" because of their early characteristics. Scrong would be the one I've referred to as the "lesser LST", and Lanky the "More LST". Both had similar leaf structures but different growth characteristics, and the same sweet smell early in flowering.



Lanky seems to be a little further behind right now in bud development. I tied it down more aggressively, so that may be it. Or it may be phenotype expression. Either way, her buds are less developed than her sister. It stretched way more during the beginning of flowering. Also, it's smell is developing into a lemony/piney sweetness.



It's got many more shoots trying to reach up for competition with the main:



She's starting to frost up a little, but again not as much as her sister:




Scrong is her short, stocky weight lifting sister. She started out short, thick, and bushy and never changed. She started showing pistils a week or so into 12/12 and is the furthest along as far as bud development. I just bent her over and left it, and I think it worked out. Her sweet smell is turning into a chocolate-y sweetness. She seems to have stretched the least, which adds up.

I love the look of this plant. I may have been better off leaving her upright, but she looks cool:



I don't think these lower buds would develop like this without me bending her over. They are still further away from the light, but at least they aren't hidden:



The main top is getting frosty and filling in the stalk more and more every day:



The taller plant is starting to slow down it's stretch. It was only about 3 weeks old when it got flipped. Plus it went through a short early stunt. The buds are way behind the other plants and I expect a big time staggered harvest. It's smell is straight gas/skunk. It's stretched big time and shot up, I wish I'd have tied it down:





It's got more sativa-like leaves and some early frostiness. I think it might be a little overboard on the nutrients. I think I need to mix it's own just little less strength. The other two seem like they could eat every day:

I was messing around today and decided to try to play with taking some zoomed/macro pictures on my phone. Here are a few of the early results:

So things are looking good. I got a tiny scare over a potential hermaphrodite situation. But, I've just never had a plant that had calyxes swell up like these. I thought they were seeded.

I've switched over to feeding the two that are further along to just molasses and compost tea. That'll be all they get next week, then I'm going to start flushing. The other taller one got a miniscule amounts of Tiger Bloom and molasses and compost tea. My plan for that one is TB once a week, compost tea and molasses once, and straight water as needed.

The buds are seriously frosting up on all the plants and if I were worried about smell, it would be beyond control. The room that they reside in stinks pretty regularly. Don't really smell it anywhere else in the house though.
