I don't see why not as long as the generator can handle the load.
How many watts is your set up and what's your generator rated for?
Cheers

My generator is plenty big enough, 20amp, plenty of watts. I wasn’t sure if there was fluctuation in the phase of the generator that would interfere with the driver

You should be fine. I have ran mine of generators and cheap harbor freight inverters without issue.
That’s what I was getting out! I was atloss for the right words. I thought I read where some hps ballasts wouldn’t run well on generators and I thought i should ask before all he’ll broke loose in my town

If ballast had trouble running on generators, the whole of the warehouse industry would have issues.

If you have a cheap harbor freight $100 generator, you might want to run it through a conditioner...the THD isn't great on the cheap ones

I have to do this every winter-storms knock out the power, so I roll out my HF 4kW genny. Works just fine...now if I could figure out how to get power out to the well...

Newly invented things called Extension cords, they can take the magic pixies from the generator and transport them via MAGIC to the well ;)
