My cute little purple seedlings.

I had a bunch of damn healthy looking seeds from some great lookin buds so i decided to keep them. i held on to them for about 8 months. I've been outta the game for about 4 or 5 years now so i'm not so fluent with growth patterns of seedlings, also, i only have maybe 5 grows under my belt so the patterns i HAVE seen seemed to be relatively normal. Normal meaning that the 5 grows i did were consistant with one another.


This grow has been totally different; and it started right from the beginning.


I started off with maybe 20 seeds. i germinated 10 and they all sprouted!!! really fast too! So i planted them and they all poked through the soil. i was so excited!!! i hadnt grown in 5 years so i was like "yeaaaa, still got it!" cheesy, i know, but i dont care, i was happy as a pig in shit.

the only thing is the seedlings were growing all funky like. with twisted leaves, purple undersides, and leaf clusters so packed and weird and deformed looking i thought i had bunk seeds that were all genetically fucked up.

I also started thinking i was doing something wrong. purple undersides didnt look healthy. i figured it was too cold or i had bad soil. I pulled up all the little green and purple sprouts.


Now i'm realizing that was a bad idea.


Heres a couple pics of the seedlings in their earlier stages, all cute and purple. (i didnt know this was OK at the time, or else i would have more!)

looks like just the bottoms of just the first set are like that. Did they come up that way from the start or did they turn color gradually? Imo even though they have some oddness to them they look like pretty healthy nice bushy little guys. Seeds most likely came off a hermie and are a bit messed genetic wise. Where you get the seeds?

WOW Thats cool. I have grown purple weed before but only the buds were purple.
I have not seen that before. I wonder what strain does that.

Me too, It looks really cool almost like cabbage. :O cabbage marijuana hybrid!

not only were these seeds throwing purple leaves at me, but some were twisty and strangly shaped. I had never seen growth like this so i didnt know what was going on. i just kept growin cuz my seed supply was getting low. Heres the weird lookin seedlings, before (maybe a week and a half ago) and a few pics of what they look like now.

they are just bagseeds from the same batch of chronic bud. Im going to grow them out and see what happens.


and YES it was only the bottom first set of leaves. they turned purple about 2 days after opening up.

i had never seen it before. and like i said thought they were fucked up. I killed off a bunch because i thought the same thing, shitty bagseed genetics. but hell i havent got my Subcool seeds yet from hemp depot some im groing this bagseed in the meantime. I have 8 plants in total. All had purple undersides on the first set of leaves.. the more 'normal' looking seedlings had a deeper purple than the twisty weird ones.

You should start a journal on these guys. The grow patterns are really weird and they have me really fascinated. I want to see what other cool things these plants will do and how well they will produce buds, you might have someones custom strain.

i'll take a couple more pics of the other little guys. I have 2 that i started a bit later thhan the others. they also are growing weird but kind of strong at the same time.

The first 2 pics is of a little seedling that was also clustering its leaves from the get go. however it was also growing side branches from the get go. The main cluster of leaves broke off, again from me touching it and 'inspecting' its weirdness. Anyway, the main node broke off but the first set of side branches continue to grow strong, its like it didnt even affect it.

The second (pics 3 and 4) seedling is growing clustery but not nearly as bad as the other ones that broke.

heres some pics of the addams family in their happy home...I only have 8. I would have 20 if i wasn't a murderer. I killed at least 12 seedlings. To me, they looked messed up, like something had gone wrong, but they are looking better as they get older.

are you adding nutes ?/ if so maybe to much and if not then it could be in your soil and that will happen to babies but they are usually alright after a while ??

feeding has been MINIMAL. i started them in shultz seed starter with 50% pearlite. a couple of them i started in 3 part mix too. so im not sure it was the soil that caused this weird growth.

I have botanicare nutes but have only been using them lately. very little. 4 - 6 ml per litre dilution. The recently transplanted ones have been getting only water.

All 4 plants have been treated exactly the same. The one plant just completely transformed within a few days, while the rest didn't. They were grown from seeds that were saved and not purchased so the strains are unknown. I occasionally used some Jack's Classic Bloom 10-30-20 and molasses for the last few weeks and am now flushing them with just water. They were all planted in a generous amount of potting soil in the ground which helps with drainage.

I may just do that. and thank you so much for sharing interest in these weird little plants :) I too want to see what they will do.

Im definatly going to do a journal of Subcool's seeds when i get them. should be here tomorrow....

it dont look to bad, I would let it be for a little while could just be the plant evening itself out naturally.
