so im looking at ditching my 5x5 tent, and using the full room its in that is 10x10, with a 10x2 sized closet i can also use in the same room.

only issue is i dont want to be drilling anything into the roof so i want to make a frame or something i can use to hang my lights and stuff from, similar to the tent frame i guess but just for the roof part.

any suggestions on what to use? i dont want to spend a fortune here just something basic as long as i can use it to mount lights and fans and c02 generator from.

You can make a rack from thinner angle alloy. Hung using light hanging chain. It's not cheap though. I'd guess about $60. Depending on how much of the angle aluminum you'd need.

Other options include metal conduit or wood. Something light but strong enough not break and damage lights and plants.

if you are worried cause its a rental do it and fix it before you bounce. if you are gonna grow a 10x10 you gonna have the money to get it fixed! :)

i did this too back in the day
1 keep the frame from the 5x5 tent (using it makes things simple and cheaper
1a that 5x5 foot print on the ground is your ideal space for a 1000w hid light or a 900w led

2 materials to make a frame
a 4x4s as tall as u need ......if u are going to do long distance about every 5 feet or 6 drill a 4x4 all the way tho so the pipe can use has weight transfer point
b conduit pipe (electrical steel pipe costly but the weights it can hold sleep safer)
c some 2x4 1 foot tall cut a angle to screw into the the 4x4s to make feet
d drill bit that is 1/4 inch bigger then the pipe
e screws and the correct bit ..... 1 and 1/2 inches long
f handy mans secret weapon....... duct tape

if u want to skip using the frame from the tent u can .......the conduit has elbows and x cross t joints .....just rem to support it like with a x cross u just need the 4x4 under the pipe so it rest on top of the 4x4 then u can use metal straps and anchor into the wood

just rem to lay your floor out with lines so u know the areas of low light (the tents biggest benefit was the refraction off the walls )....best mimic is IR blocker on the walls for the refraction as for the floor if u can get hands on tent flood liners it is worth it (u know floor is water proofed and u get the refraction off the ground up )

oh to seal in the pipe into the wood u just wrap the end of it with duct tape so u need a hammer to push it in for a tight fit ....why the 1/4 bigger bit

that was fun thank u

awesome info and man i dont even know why i didn't think about using the tent frame lol. its a great idea actually can still hang most things from it without the tent on it. but yeah i think i'll need to put something down for the floor as its going over carpet, all the walls are painted white though but i may just get some reflective material for the walls also.

used 2x6's and did mine....just ran 4 posts up and connected them up top with a square of 2x6's. basically like a huge table in the room with not table top...just a perimeter.
