Bossled dominator cob 600 or vipaspectra 300

I am currently in the process of buying parts to build my own grow closet and it's the first time I'm going indoors so any help is appreciated . I can't go with Hps or mh for heat reasons and also I'm a tight ass with electricity bills so for reasons led light is my option.i have 2 x 130w cfls for side lighting but need something strong for the long run. I have read over and over on the led forums but so much controversy and diffrent opinion along with thousands of lights to choose from has got me fucked. I have nailed it down to 2 options first is the bossled cob cree 600w (I think it's equivalent watts actual watt is 150)the second is the vipaspectra 300w .......sooo what would you guys go for???

I would suggest building your own. I just put together a light built from Samsung Acuity hard strips. Each strip has 58 diodes, and you can get these strips for 2 bucks each on Ebay (10 for $20). All they need for power is a 24V supply., which you can pick up for 20 bucks. Use either screws and thermal paste or just thermal adhesive to attach them to 3/4" U channel aluminum.

And if you want the highest efficiency, look for Samsung F series light strips with the 561C diodes. I believe Digikey has them.

I use the cfls for germination and young plants I guess if I get a good enough led I can just turn off the cfls after germination.

I will check out some DIY tutorials and see if I'm capable at making them haha. Your lights would work great in my cabinet as I could run them on the sides creating bulk light all around my plant. Cheers dudes

Dude, these were wicked simple to put together. The hardware store cut the channel to length for me (48") and I just glued the strips to the channel with arctic silver adhesive (its like epoxy), then glued the channels to 3/4 aluminum angle ends:


Run some 18g wire from the terminals on the strips to the power supply, adjusted the power supply to 24.0 V and you're done.

Oh are they just led strips? I thought they were a row of cobs or something. I have plenty of experience with led strips all our mine site cars had to have them on the trays and I had the long job of fitting them all haha

Yes, these are hard strips, 56 diodes each, 24V @1 amp is where I am running them.

I have just reviewed the vipaspectra reflector series and read good things and for the price I think it's the go. Uv, IR and 12 band so it must be OK.

They are salvage pulls from troffer lights damaged in shipping, from the description. So they get them for next to nothing, and use child labor to strip them bare...?

Now I'm really torn. Apparently the dominator cob runs all quality gear epistar cobs and some fancy driver.i might just flip a coin haha

They are advertised as 4000K. I think the strips were marked as well.
