a good idea

try a dish of water even hang out a damp towel

but a fogger sounds ideal

so long as you hang your temp/Rh gauge up too

good luck

I got a fogger from the house of hydro the thing is fantastic. I bought the 12 head unit. Better too big then too small I thought. My room goes from 45% after the ac kicks off to 70 % in minutes. If I wanted 100% I could get there. IMHO humidifiers are old teck now , and can be an incubator for molds. IF you get a fogger you will be very happy, just don't get a cheaply made one

I was under the impression that a fogger was just another name for humidifier. Most people vent their grow rooms and that means leaving it on a long time. Some people tarp to keep light out and it condenses on those. Plenty of things come into play with them.

Yes it is ultra sonic. Look it up you will see. With the fog you have more options on how to handle it. I use the fan in the box method but I run the fog though some 4" abs the the roof of the room then across the roof using drainage abs. The stuff with the holes drilled in every 10". Spreads the fogg out across the room makes it consistent right away.

I did find a normal humidifier spit alot of water on the walls and roof that encouraged molds. Not a problem with the fogger and this setup

I use ultrasonic. They're also labeled, 'cool mist, silent'. Sometimes the box won't even have 'Ultrasonic' on it.

I have two for 2 spaces. One fat one, the other tall and skinny. The taller one has a 8.5" base. Same size as a 1 gallon fabric pot. I stick it inside with the plants. The humidifier has a one gallon capacity. On low it'll go two days. High, it'll run a day.

The outside humidity in my area can fall to 19% or lower.

The second fat humidifier won't the fit inside the grow space. I stick that one directly by the air intake of another cabinet. It'll also cool the space down. It seems to have a swamp cooler effect. It'll drop the temps 2-3°(f) when the outside is in the 30-40% range.

Sounds like your set up is well thought out. I like the idea of the perforated pipe. Never would have thought of that.

Does the water not condense in the pipe?

Yeah, my understanding....it breaks the things up in the water to a molecule level. That's why they're not recommend in a hydro application. One can assume the chlorine is floated around.

Guys, confession. I use tap water. I figure the chlorine will knock out any mold spores in the air. I haven't noticed it bother plants. The instructions included with humidifier say soft water only.

Fuck their rules.

I add a pour of H202 to every refill. I'm guessing about 3ml per gallon of tap water. 205PPM.

*Edit to clarify: Grocery Store shelf, 3% H2O2.

SouthCross, I'd say you have soft tap water if you're not bothered by liming (carbonate deposits).

I use an EssickAir 831000 Six Gallon Evaporative Humidifier ("swamp cooler") in a converted master bedroom with S&P 200mm inline intake and exhaust fans. Set at 65%, it will run continuously on low fan speed and my room comes up to 55%.

I live in Seattle but I've never used the dehumidifier I bought, even during the chilly monsoon season.

5ml of bacteriostat per gallon is added to prevent brown algea and Legionnaires' Disease.
