I'm obviously disappointed Clinton didn't win since her views more closely align with mine, even as an establishment democrat, than Trump's. Full disclosure, I didn't vote for her since I live in CA and I knew she would win this state whether I voted for her or not, and she was the 5th person to win the popular vote but still lose the nomination.
So how did this happen? There are so many different variables we could talk about that led to this, but I'd like to talk about what I think is the main reason she lost; DNC and media collusion/establishment politics
Donald Trump created an image highlighting anti-establishment rhetoric, anti-NAFTA, anti-TPP, anti-free trade, for the poor and middle classes, for working men and American jobs, the people who've been affected the most by corporatist policy.
At the same time, Bernie Sanders was creating a populist movement within the democratic party where young people everywhere were excited and enthusiastic about participating in the political process. Then the DNC rigged the primary against him to ensure a Clinton victory. Establishment shills on the left accepted it believing that even if she had to cheat, Hillary Clinton would be our best shot at beating Donald Trump, even though the numbers didn't represent that, and she couldn't do that. She couldn't defeat Donald fucking Trump..
These people lost us the supreme court for a generation at least, they emboldened the alt-right and they ended all progress on climate change, LGBT rights, the war on drugs, the private prison industry, foreign policy, etc.
Personally, I think the people responsible for blatant election fraud at the DNC and within the Clinton campaign should be held accountable to the full extent of the law, and I'd love to see president Trump enforce it. They defrauded millions of Americans with their bullshit.
And to anyone who has given Sanders supporters shit during this election; we fucking told you.
We told you exactly what was going to happen. I really hope you learn something from this monumental fuck up you're responsible for getting us all into.
I would suggest that everyone calm down and let the newly elected president do his thing. No one has any idea what he will actually do or not do. People on both sides always predetermine their own versions of what may or may not happen. Most of the time it ends up wasted energy because candidates rarely do everything they stumped for in order to get elected.
We have plenty of time to either discredit or congratulate him based off of what he ends up doing or not do.
We do have a split country. We will never be able to come together until both sides, stop the rhetoric, hate, accusations, corruption, flag burning, thuggery, inter war mongering, burning cars and business. Non stop verbal abuse and hate from both sides towards one another has never solved anything. All it does is continues to divide us as a nation.
I for one am an American and patriot first and foremost. I don't care if you are a Republican, Democrat, Independent. It makes no difference to me whether you are white, black, brown, yellow, pink, green, purple, man, woman, gay, straight. I don't care where you are originally from or how much money you make.
What I care about is whether you are a positive influence on your family and communities. When your time is up your children and grandchildren will take over for you. Those that continue to teach hate and divisiveness within their circles and in public is teaching future leaders and citizens the same behavior. BIG VICIOUS CIRCLE!
I would submit it is more important than ever to give Trump the same level of respect that would have been given to any other candidates who has been elected and will be elected in the future.
He may do some good things, he may not do good thing. No one knows yet.
At least give him the benefit of the doubt until he proves otherwise from the oval office. All this hate and discontent never has and never will be productive at any level....peace out!
