They don't have the capacity to care about much, because they're animals...
I

Good. Now I don't have to feel bad about eating them...

I totally do not agree, they do have the capacity to love an to trust, as will as please us...., and you see these capacities in horses. We decide how they will interact on these two capacities and how they adapt to living along side of us...

It was Thomas Edison's way of trying to show up George Westinghouse. Edison backed AC current while Westinghouse backed DC. This was Edison's way of showing how dangerous DC current was.

By the way, Thomas Edison was a total asshole in just about every way.

Well obviously, doing that to an elephant, an elephant of all creatures, makes it pretty obvious he was an asshole. Not that it'd be ok to do it to anything else, but such a big production they made of it and the elephant looked like it knew something was up!

We have treated elephants horribly, an animal with a diverse and caring family system, and we as animals and humans have tromped all over this. They are a caring and loving species, loyal to their family and we have shown total disregard to their family structure and to the intricate and diverse beings they are...

I am a caring and a human being, and do much more to help the human condition in a year, and the human condition in general, than you have probably done in your entire life, not to mention what I have done for other species...so I laugh out loud at you for your place in the human race...

They're beautiful, majestic animals. I saw some in a zoo in France years ago and there were a couple of them that had obviously been traumatised in some way, kept somewhere too small for them, cos they'd take 2 steps forward, 2 to the side, 2 back then to the side and so on, just shuffling in a square, it was very sad to watch. They're too intelligent to be kept like that, no wonder it sends them a bit mad.

Note the year. It was a demo put on by Thomas Edison to prove DC current was safer than AC current, thereby discrediting Tesla

Edit: note who ultimately won the competition; AC is what we use
Shit, we kept humans in the Bronx Zoo until 1906 (google: Oto Benga)
