O2 pump Noise question.

Hey all,
I currently use a commercial 550 or so gph ecoplus commercial air pump for 6 buckets to airate the DWC water. I'm going to be upgrading to 9 buckets and will need more air. I'm wondering if I should just buy another 550 gph pump and use 2 of them, or if I should buy the 1268gph model. (1780 would be overy ill even though I kinda want to buy it. Biggest size they make)
But anywho, I'm wondering if the 1268 is truly a LOT louder than if i used 2 of my current 550 models?
I also have 2 4 outlet elemental pumps you see a lot in dwc kits from ebay/amazon or aquariums, but they dont put out the kind of bubbles I like.
I'd really appreciate some insight if any of you have any personal experience with this!

Id buy another the same size this way you know. Also for another reason....Redundancy in case of pump failure.

Drop two stones per bucket and each stone supplies by a different air pump for redundancy incase a pump shits the bed.

The 550 only has 6 outlets. I'll have 9 buckets. Well...10 if I aerate the res. So I'd use 5 & 5 on each. I just feel like I'd be better off using a bigger pump and have my smaller one for backup.

If you were going to switch to 1 big one, I really would suggest having another as backup or in the system already that can take over in case 1 fails...like the man said "..Redundancy in case of pump failure."

Sounds like your mind is made up.

If noise isnt a factor then grab the bigger one. Im sure they give a decibel rating to compare the two.

I have no experience with that brand or size.

If a pump failed, it wouldn't be a big deal. My power went out for a dat and a half and roots sat in stagnant water the whole time. They're resilient specimens. I'd just get it changed out as soon as I saw an issue.

Yeah. Ive closed a valve by accident to check res next day with a nasty smell. Only 24 hours in stagnant water.

Plant recovered but did lose some mass to roots.

I used to do redundancy but dont have enough air pumps now to keep up.

Growing less plants is an option...but who the fuck wants to do that?

if you're going to use an air pump instead of a water fall, do some research on pondmaster pumps. quieter and more powerful than commercial air pumps.

Already got the 1268gph. Not much louder than the 572. Super bubbles now tho :P like the waters boilin!
