We already have. We are the only state to ever have been our own country. We have all the oil and were the only state to have our own gold reserve. We are also the most heavily armed. Were are you guys from? I've lived in the north and east coast as well.

Guns per person I believe Alaska has us all beat. Pretty sure they have gold and oil too. I'm from Wisconsin, we have beer, cheese and fat people.

I wasn't born out here but I've been living here since I was 2011 my opinion of Texas has changed greatly since then as I don't feel that same "Texas" feeling like I did when I first moved out here though I still love it though always will be my 2nd home

I only have one true home though I miss it greatly

I think Alaska is the only state that could hack it on its own, Texas gets a ton of federal aid..drought, flood, tornadoes etc.

California has one of the best economies in the world... I think they are the only state the could run itself. Imho of course.

Texas is bust now with the lower oil prices. The oil stays down Texas is just another Yemen.

Texas is booming right now..I've had a buddy and three relatives move to Houston in the last 2 years for high paying jobs.. Cali is running out of water.. Earthquakes, mudslides..cali wouldn't last a decade either. Alaska is pretty self sufficient.. I believe they could do it fairly easily.

Most of the oil America uses comes through the Houston harber even foreign oil. It comes to us as crude and has to be processed which most of it happens in Houston. Also Texas has one of the fastest growing economies in the country
