okay

i have 4 premature buds

they've been hanging in the closet since last night...

they smell like a lawn...

i don't know how to tell when they're dry

they don't even smell like weed

but it looks like good weed

you can see the white crystals

and it has orange hair everywhere

what do i do?!

dry them until the stem snaps. the grassy smell is chlorophyl. if you want a smooth smoke you need to cure for a couple of weeks. if you just want to get high go ahead and smoke without curing

Let them dry. It may take 7 days for them to dry. Skinny thin buds will dry faster. When the stem snaps they are dry. After they dry cure them and then the smell will/may come back.

so dry them until i can bend the stem and it snaps completely?

that depends on how long you;re planning on storing the stuff. if you;re going to smoke it right away you want them to snap. if you;re storing you want to leave a little more water - snap but not break

those buds aren't even heavy enough to snap the stem i dont understand what you're saying?

are you saying that when i bend the stem, and it snaps easily, they're dry?

What are your drying temps like? If it got to hot, the chlorophyll cells could have already sealed up and you will be stuck with the hay smell.

nuh uh its not hot in here...

there's an A/C unit in the window right in the room where the closet is and i have the door cracked

sorry, didn't understand you had just buds not some stalk attached. if you don;t cure drying isn;t as critical. you just need it dry enough to burn and you can tell that by trial and error - probably a couple of days.

will they still smell like lawn when they are dried?

sorry but yes. you need to cure in glass jars for at least a couple of weeks to remove the smell - see growfaq for tips on how to cure.

If the bud falls apart when you do that, sounds to me like it's kinda dry. It should be really moist and sticky if it's not ready to go into cure.

normally you trim those off with scissors. those small leaves have lots of thc in them but don;t smoke well. when you have a bigger harvest its typical to make hash out of them.

yeah i think i'll leave it hanging till the sun goes down and then stick it in jars...

but what can i do with these little leaves?

it'll take forever to do it by hand they're so small...

and another thing i dont understand is why the bud is so dark

these were good plants...

i think im having all these problems because of the prematurity...
