How realistic is it to host a small grow competition in California?

As stated above, it would have to be clones to be considered a true race. Seeds have way to many variables.

I just don't think you could call it a real competition. Lets say you give seeds out, right? Then one guy has a pheno that finishes in 63 days and another has one that finishes in 77.
Now lets say the first pheno produces a massive bush, super potent and frosty and the second doesn't. Is that grower error? I believe there's only so far you can go with your environment, once it's perfect and you have your schedule you have to rely more on genetics.
i didnt consider this. i guess there are too many variables. it would still be cool to watch or at least it would be something id like to see.

@King Arthur i guess what i meant is that a small group would register like a chess tournament. it doesnt have to be the best growers, can even be new growers. it's just to have fun and compete, that's all. i think the images we would all see would be cool besides all the text content that is produced.

I like imagination, we gotta figure out a real good contest. I am game for it.

ya i think i can score some legit free seeds for us. im in san diego and would mention the idea to collectives here. maybe it would be a way to get free samples lol. i could totally work on this for the group if people wanna do this. since we're heading into indoor season in a few months it would be maybe a good time vs spring time.
