@UncleBuck frequently accuses Rand Paul of having racist ties. I've heard that before myself, and since Paul announced his presidential bid, I've been meaning to do some independent reading on the subject. And this morning I had the time to do so.

Buck is right.

And I told Buck if he was right, I'd come back here and say so.

Here's a picture of Rand Paul and one of his staffers, Jack Hunter, who was also known for a while by his radio shock jock name "The Southern Avenger". He wore the confederate mask during some segments of his radio show, and said terribly racist things over the years. The fact that Paul could associate with the guy is beyond belief in light of his presidential aspirations.

I don't know. I don't know what Paul knew about Hunter's past. But a presidential wannabe has got to be smarter and wiser than to allow himself to enter into a close relationship with someone like Hunter. It creates a cloud of uncertainty about Paul's judgement and possible racist views. So I couldn't see him ever getting elected.

He's trying to repeal Roe vs. Wade. And now he's been positively tied to racists on his own staff. That's two strikes against him right there on easy-to-hit fastballs. And he hasn't even tried to hit a curve ball yet.

He was prosecuted only because the black community (and our Muslim-sympathizing black president) stirred the pot and shook the hornet's nest against him...making a racist case against a fellow minority (Zimmerman is a Hispanic)...

Unfortunately, after such a railroad case against him, unjustified as it was, he now needs (and deserves) police protection...

The civil rights case will never happen, because educated blacks (i.e. a very, very, few of the hyphenated Americans) know it would never end in conviction...
