Ok.

So, i have been working all the online cigar auctions for years. I bid in maybe 20 items a week. I bid outrageously low. If it is the holliday season, if it is a cigar that is secret, if i am lucky, i win.

I dont win very much. I dont get into auction wars. Ive seen people bid up beyond retail many times.

I might win one, two a month except christmas where i do great.

The way these auctions work, you place your bid, if you win you have three days to pick up your winnings or you get a bad rep.

Now some of these auctions are from companies that are looking to get rid of excess or drum up sales of hyper premium sticks.

Well i hit it big on two auctions at the same business site. Some very old cigars came in at one third price. Some others at one half.

Cool, right? Very cool.

A week later i had a sneeker. Not by much. Retail was 48 dollars for these tiny boxes of ten ive taken a shine to. Saved five bucks.

But i look down and i see that the two amazing wins are still there. Typical stoner mentality, "i thought i picked them up". So i picked them up again.

Day or two later the first cigars, the ones i thought i forgot came.

I checked, they were still ready for pickup.

Picked them up AGAIN.

SO i get more agressive. If i can win at all well, then i can double my savings and STILL get the others again.

So soon i get into a bidding war in the last five minutes of an auction. It extends each time there is a bid for five minutes. I let them go, too much, dont be stupid, your goal is to save no less than 40 a box.

I go to the pick up site and I WON, i won them at every bid at the five minute mark.

So now i start waiting for that five minutes, bid a dime over the last guy, let him win and then go and pick them up even if i dont win plus, i pick up another of everything i had previously won again

And again

And again

And again.

I figure ive saved well over two thousand dollars if i include my latest several.

They are all premiun smokes, all WAY lower than anywhere else, many i would never buy because they are in the mid two hundred a box range (my final downfall).

If you can pay eighty four dollars for a box of sticks that sell at their lowest, 139.00

How many do you buy?

If you can pay 150 for a box that sells for 210, when do you stop?

If you pay 38 bucks for a box of cigars that cost 80?

20 for vintage smokes that cost 55?

My credit card is still glowing and the savings are gowing to a fridge for the wife.

I kept thinking id jinxs it, or it would stop but each time i won something with the five minute dual, id go back and buy everything all over again.

Now it all comes to an end when they ding me (they also have auto ship, what a disaster that might be, but i will have to show them the glitch). And then my little cigar playtime will end.

And that is my story.

This thread makes me so glad I haven't smoked tobacco in almost 3 years! Makes those 30-50 mile trippy bike rides so much more fun!

congrats either way! Sounds like you scored!

When I fly out, you'll need to show me a proper stick, and how to enjoy it..I'm no smoker, but I'll partake..wanna find out what the fuss is about...
I respect your tastes in life,so I embrace the thought of tobacco pleasantries.
nothing more wonderful than a good well aged stick.

maybe.

what do you like?
I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to the finery of cigars, so I prefer the milder flavours. I've tried a Cuban Guantanamera Cristales which was decent for the price, and some other mild sticks I can't remember the names of. I like woody and chocolatey flavours most, but always like to try new things as well.

If you're serious that'd be awesome, although I was half-kidding.
