Veg Chamber Update- 3/3
Here yah go I think that "splayed out" plant is in this group of pics, the lighter green color in the most recent transplants is partly due to the light they are under (as from different angles you can see they are darker) and because they were root bound and are now breaking their own root barriers to send new shoots out, which we will see topside in the next two weeks.
Speaking of two weeks.... 2-3 weeks to putting them outside... I am terrified and excited at the same time. Shit ton of work to do from all angles, and I am not very trusting of jobs in other peoples hands so.....
Anyways, those seedlings are not liking the soil they are in at all, had a huge ph flux after I watered them, and finally got around to correcting it by flushing them.... but... they need a transplant, and up potting means..... duhn duhn duhn.... more lights.... more lights means more heat, means AC unit means running exhaust, finished liniing, and finish gravelling the floor to keep the dust down.... because they don't like the damn soil.... well shit... Wouldn't mind getting that 1000W flowering room set up at the same time and putting a first run in there either... while doing the spring run and veggin the full season.... just feeling a bit overwhelmed I guess... back to it

Ok, I need input from someone.

Should I
1.) section off a 5x5.5 space for 1000W flower run with clones, to start in about a month?
2.) Or should I section off an 11x5.5 for a flower run with clones and seeds, start flowering in about a month?
3.) Or should I section off a 5x5.5 area and start with 1000W (adjustable) and gradually introduce more lights and plants to the sectioned off flower area, starting with moving those four in, and a couple other plants, in about two and a half weeks?

This is the question I really need to figure out asap. Room progress has almost halted until I decide.

I would opt for option 3. But am kind of unsure how that would muffle the veg room waters and where I would be with lighting and heat (guess its time to get an AC unit put in, yay more electrical work bleh)

Taking about 60 cuttings over the next week. some of them will become new mothers over time and eventually go outside for the full season- so there will be seeds and clones out for full season grow.

Going to need to decide how I am going to split up the different strains..... but I would like to kinda just throw all those clones I already took into flower once they are vegged up some, inside.... and any undesirable or extra females from the seed batches that are going (14 seeds in recent "comparison" batch, 23 seeds in the batch that doesn't like their soil, lol).

The race has begun on that comparison batch... I would say they are neck and neck- because I suspect these clones will make a strong comeback and gain on the seedlings over the next week. Both seeds and clones being watered tomorrow morning, thats when cuts make come back :D - they are all SR71 cuts.

Looks like damn nice start early in the season! great job Mikey. I was noticing the hydrofarm t5's them seem to be doing a nice job for your vegging gals. Always wanted a set of those out but lately ive been only growing outdoors as the new baby kinda put the kaibash on the indo. I know what you mean about trying to match the same light regimen as is outdoors. Is the weather getting close to a point you could harden them off outdoors? And man that Alpha D cross looks like its going to be a heavy hitter. Very impressive start!! for being a bit rusty you sure couldnt tell it ;)

One other thing i wanted to mention, have you ever tried bubble cloning? back in my glory days of mass producing cuttings for the various patients in the local coop of multiple strains. I built a couple large DIY very simple cloners i used to call them the magic boxes lol.
Its basically nothing more than a heavy guage black tote usually you can find them in black at any office supply in virtually any size to meet your needs. However i did things slightly different from the average run of the mill setup. I used a hydroponic diaphram air pump with a manifold for 12 hoses on it. Any hydro shop has them. This way you can run multiple airstones and the more the better. I found that the round tube type worked best and then the blue stones next.

I also did alot of counter feeding and over time i had it down so good that my cuttings would not loose a single leaf while rooting. Ill see if i can find the link and send it to ya. Its worth a read :) Keep up the good work peace.

Thanks much appreciated! yeah those t5's are badd ass I am really happy with them for early vegging. The only reason they are doing as well with the larger plants, though, is because of the cross spread from the denser light coming from the 400, 600, and 1000W mh's. once the plants get about 2 ft tall the middle and bottom growth gets kind of stringy.

I wish the weather was really getting close. For those big ladies going out on the spring run... I just transplanted them a week ago, so they need time to get nicely settled in their pots, and get some solid healthy veg growth too. They have about two weeks maybe a little longer before they can go outside. I have been watching the outside temps very closely, and weather predictions. Unseasonably warm winter on the west coast this year. But still not quite good for putting them out. If they had a little hothouse set up with some plastic around them to insulate heat, and a little bit of supplemental lighting to keep temps up and keep em going strong, then I would have plants out all year. That is in future plans, but things are just getting started so will have to work up to that. For now, just going to keep at it how it is. For any mature plants, if I put them out before May they will go into flower, since the idea is to get a jump start and get them nice and big and mature before going out.... the soonest I could see putting my full season plants out is May, maybe end of April.... BUT, the outdoor site is the same for the spring and full season crops and spring run harvest should be mid to late april, leaving a couple weeks while trimming to clean up and get prepped and set up for full season.... which reminds me, I think I am really going to need to get a couple pairs of hands to help me around then, just too much for one person.
I like your cloner idea- would like to get something just like that going too. Maybe over the next few months I could get something like that together. Just need a parts list and should be pretty easy to figure out. For now, Im gunna go ahead and use what I have because this next batch cant wait.
Anyways, could you find somewheres that has a list, and shoot me a link to that diaphragm air pump?
Yeah that Alpha D x OG is turning out to be my favorite too. got a couple of those going for the spring run (the one I LST'ed). Not really expecting much off of those 4 under the 400W HPS, maybe 5-6 ounces, been thinking more and more every day about just throwing them outside to finish, actually... just thinking about it... lol the 400W has been like a heater for me, have hardly had the houses heater on accept at night when the light is off.

Fucking stoked!!! Just noticed a water line I could tap into with a water hose to bring into the room immediately!! been stressing about all the back and forth trips a couple gallons at a time I have been going through to do the watering, now I will have water right there and won't have to wait for those damn gallon jugs to fill up, which took for ever!
I've been doing a bunch of math and really hoping to see some savings on my electricity bill from cutting the light times and installing the electrical in the room. Hoping with those savings, and switching a couple vegs lights off once the spring run ladies go out.... hoping to match what I turn off MH wise with flowering room lights that I turn on- still saving a few extra bucks dropping from 18/6 to 12/12. I'm itching to get the flowering area set up, obviously.
inside temps are getting higher though, as the weather does continue to heat up. No way getting around putting in an AC unit.... luckily it won't need to come on much, at least until I do get a spot sectioned off and start flowering.....

Thanks :) slowly getting up to having something going on lol

oh yeah, started transplanting some of those females from the seedling batch under the 4' t5 on the shelf in the main veg chamber, packing them wherever I can for now, going to start pulling the males too- I am so excited to be doing that!! I will need all of the space I can get, veg wise for the next couple of weeks.

just checking the weather, and there is a cold spell on the way. Very grateful for that. should keep room temps cooler next week. then it's looking like warmer weather than we are having now. Might just have to plop a bunch of those ladies out about a week early if that is the case. The temps I am seeing in the forcast would mean I would need to turn off the 1000W mh, or turn on an AC.... an looking at those over night temps I could feel comfy putting them out. This is good news across the board, really hoping the weather predictions are right.
might as well throw the 4 in flower out at the same time. My morning started out rough, ran outta coffee. feeling much better as the days gone along and things falling together. So I know what my work schedule is going to be over the next two weeks now, sigh... reliefs all around, now if everything else could fall into place so well!

ahhhh.... Well I didn't water a few days ago like I wrote that I would. they werent ready. Glad I waited too! was dreading the gallon jug at a time method.

Only took 15-20 minutes.... Not 3 hrs like it was taking, so Awesome! stoked! celebratory bowl :)
And yeah just watered them big ladies in their big pots.... and raised the lights again (3rd time since transplant)..... can only raise the lights one more time and they Have to go outside..... gotta couple staring me in the eyes now... and they are spreading into each other. I don't think they will wait for 2 weeks, maybe another week and a half if I am lucky, and squeeze those bitches out the door.

Got a rather long materials list going, really need to get shopping soon for a bunch of stuff..... uggh, thats life.

I put two supper silve haze out early last year witch started them into flower. Then the reveg killed me! Took em around a month and a half just to get back into veg. They still finshed nice. So couldnt complain but i definitely lost some grow time /:

i hope so! Im learning as i go. Expiraminting and trying new techs. Thanks you to!! Definitely going to keep following you along!

once they have started to reveg, if you trim out some of the reveg growth it will speed up the process, also if you remove calyxes it can speed up the process. a couple years ago I harvested a plant at the end of April, and then again in November. I left just enough for it to reveg, and then transplanted it, and then trimmed it. Some of my favorite smoke :) Glad to have you along, best of luck to you in your growing, if I can answer any questions, maybe I will...

So it's Friday :) Week 4 Flower- 400W HPS Transition Fed Beastie Blooms watered in.

Flower room update- week 4

This is broken up into three posts..... because of pic numbers and because a couple days ago I stuck the two taller plants outside. To my delight they did really well going outside. A storm is about to bring them back inside for a couple of days, but they have to be off to the side and not directly under the light.

I Fed all four first thing this morning with Beastie Blooms- inside and outside. 1/2 tspn per gallon of water, watered in. Would like to explain this a little. First I spread a quart of water between the two plants, let it soak in for a minute, Then I spread a 1/2 gallon of the Beastie Bloom solution between the two, giving more to the Animal Cookies because it needs more, I don't wait for it to soak in, I quickly grab 1/2 gallon of water and spread it between the two back and forth making sure it soaks in evenly. I measured 1 qt runoff. Took these pics about 45 minutes after feeding. The two inside are:

Animal Cookies- still very happy with this strain, happy to have it and eager to take more cuttings and work with it in the future. Little extra veg time, little extra perlite, little less water, and a shitload of twisting and tying it down should bring up her yield potential tremendously. I also look forward to breeding with this more than anything- down the road... got about 4 more of them, one in particular looking fantastic. I'm flowering the runt....

OG x SR71-
Smoking a bowl of this while I write this update. Nice stuff. It's not my favorite admittedly, I love the smell though, taste, looks great, etc etc. actually not as heavy as a high as i need- But then I am starting to realize my tolerance is kind of ridiculous. I am going to see about revegging this after harvest and taking some cuts- I really like this phenotype, short squat and looks like nice yield- this is also a runt of course. This cross was bred with large fast growing plants that stretch and have heavy yields- I am keeping this for its indoor SOG potential. Also note I believe this genotype to be the heavier hitting variety of the cross, and the other a lighter high (see previous updates).

Oh yeah- 2/3 Group Shot

I added some to the mix, constantly moving remember? The little ones are just being sexed right now, needed better light exposure. They are extra's from the "poisoned by soil" seed batch, extras meaning I have already selected females of them and have them transplanted into larger pots (accept the Jack the ripper X Jake Blue, still praying it turns female lol). Males get pulled, extra females to flower outside, and if that Jack the ripper x Jake blue or one of the OG x SR's are female I will retain it to veg. Yes, still a bit of room to cram the larger ladies in flower back in there for a couple days if needed....

Flower Update 3/3 Week 4- Outside 3 days
So if I was taking these pics inside- they would look all shiny and pretty like the other ones above. These plants were fed exactly the same way. will wait for nightfall to bring them in. Windy day too- 30 mph gusts- these are champs. Would still have them inside but the 400W just cant go high enough and the tops were starting to get burned- why they will be more off to the side coming back inside to wait out the storm, maybe I will snap some snazzy pics then too haha. 4 hrs after feeding.

Alpha D x OG-
Very excited about this cross and this genotype! Frostiest of all of the 4 though it may be hard to tell by the pics- it certainly is, and also looks to be heaviest producing, stinky- I may be in love lol... Can reduce the stretch by using training on this plant- SCROG or simple LST (like the lady I did just that with that is in veg and about to go outside next week) would benefit yield and even distribution of light (consistent quality). Look out for phenotype comparisons in the future (like I have done with the OGxSR71), as the genomes seem to have come out fairly consistent. No stretch at all on the Animal Cookies, or hardly any- might be a great future cross... have plenty of strains to go over and considerations to make in terms of breeding. Will probably attempt to reveg and keep this on alive after harvesting it as well.

OG x SR71-
It's doing ok- maybe I have just smoked way too much of this strain, lol. Its frostier than the pics let on, much like her sister, though I do suspect it will be a much lighter hitting variety.

:weed::clap: Them flowers are looking beautiful!! Would love to have a smell! :peace:
Thank you, should be a bunch more to come, thanks for joining the ride.
Veg update soon, in a couple days- still haven't taken cuttings, just not enough space, timings not right for another week. had to move those two in flower back inside, and very thankful to nature for waiting until just after i brought them in to dump loads of rain :D

nasty storm-

Great reminder- cant put the ladies out without having something to support them, and/or cover them asap- one storm like this and its bye bye babies, especially once they get loaded up with nuggs.
