Hi am curious about led lights, i am using a 600w hps red spec for flower at the moment and need to invest into another flowering light what are the pro's and con's of using a led as opposed to a hps?

100% agree with @ghb. You want to stick with HPS if that's your budget, for the very reason stated (can't get anything of quality with a decent wattage for that price).

A decent LED that can compete with a 600w or 1000w HPS will run you $900+ very quickly.

i guess thats about 550 in english money....im thinking these lights go on indefinetly as apposed to hps having to have new bulbs still a decent hps lid and bulb is about 80 pounds here a massive difference!!! is there much difference in yeild?

us mere mortals could never get dense buds and large yields from t5 lighting, stick to hps if you want an easy life.

LED proponents claim there to be, but I honestly doubt it. Less heat and electricity savings are the real benefit of LED. I veg with LED, but flower only with HPS, and I'm content with my yields.

it is impressive you can get the kind of buds that a person would use a hps to get from. kudos to you rm3...im current;y using 3 duel spec cfl's for 2 plants that are in flower and 4 new plants in vedge i have to say the plant i have under the hps is budding better than the 2 under cfl...i have 8 new blue spec t5 bulbs and am getting the light unit in january and will be using these lights for the full vedge stage...ill get some red spec bulbs too and try these in the new year rm3 as they are a lot cheaper to run than hps ill let you know how it goes-)
