trim fan leaves or not

i just started flowering(day 4) my lsted liberty haze plant that i vegged for 4 weeks under 100w cfl bulbs and i was wondering if i had to start trimming some fan leaves.

Do you not know that those fan leaves are the "power plant" behind your plants? In nature, does a cannabis plant shed its fan leaves when it goes into flower? Hopefully you will the take all of the advice given so far.

Now, to answer the question you will asking in 7-8 weeks, in nature, does a cannabis plant flush itself in the last weeks before harvest?

don't trim anything and it'll be ready for harv at day 50-56, it's a nice strain esp. for sog...

If the leaf looks pale or brown, give it a gentle tug. If it comes off easily, you either need more N, more light.

If the leave does not come off easily, it's helping still helpful to the plant.

I guess I would cut off a top fan leaf if it was totally burned by a light or something, then cutting it will let light through to something healthy. I had to do that recently when i vegged a new strain for too long, and the stretch after the flip was too much. (some leaves burned)

After 21 to 25 days in bud start removing 30% of the water leafs in one day. Do this every day till all gone. 4 days usually. After you cut the first day the ones left will grow longer stems making them easier to cut. Must have known we wanted that. If you rootball is healthy and dense it will increase bud to compensate.
And for all those that say I'm wrong, whatever... I grow over 2.5 pounds dried and cured bud per 1000 watt light in a 5x5 area. And only 3 ounces of sugar trim per pound of bud and nothing else. You have more trim then bud when done.

Hmmmm, I just don't know about removing lots, or all fan leaves. I read over and over and over that the leaves are the solar panels for plants, and removing a healthy leaf effects it's ability to photosynthesise. But it's hard to argue against 2.5 lbs in a 5x5 area as well. So I guess it must work.

That's 1.6 oz per sqft, I pulled 1.58 per sqft with Liberty Hazy non-defoliated. So... guess again.

Your ideas are as solid as your math. 30% x 4 = 120%, does that mean you cut the entire plant down?

Sorry not laughing at you but that's some funny shit right there. So basically plants with long petioles "want" to be defoliated and tell you by growing longer petioles? It is a typical and ugly indica trait that imnsho should not even be in sativa/indica hybrids.

Now were talking. Hazes can be high yielders. Good for you. My lemon haze pulled 4.3 pounds. And I bet you use smaller grow spaces with 1000 watt light. So you hyping on sqft and not discussing light. Apples and oranges. And mines only counting sellable bud. No duff and hash bag count.
And how much trim did you have? 3 pounds???

Oh really? I will be having a reaction to removing mass from these plants very soon. And your math still sucks, 4 x 30 is not 100.
PS I have degrees in biology and chemistry earned in 2008, I worked for a USDA paneled scientist doing field work for peer reviewed writings, and I have at the age of 58 been growing probably longer than you have been alive. But I'm sure that you and your internet minions know much more than us that have years of actual experience and that crazy book learnin'.

You know this subject comes up over and over again.

Why not grow 2 plants, each from the same mother so they' ll effectively be identical, and then defoliate one and not the other...in other words do a side by side comparison and find out for yourself. It's a very forgiving plant and, once you're done, you'll know the answer to your question.

The same advise can be said about any of those questions that are asked over and over again...miracle grow vs? Organic vs? 12/12 from start vs?

This can be a very fun and rewarding hobby...try experimenting a little, you'll learn a ton.
