Many applicants already own/run greenhouses, and I have worked with commercial greenhouses and tree nurseries in the past. Updating them to meet security requirements would much easier and cheaper than starting from scratch at an indoor location IMO.

There is a cucumber farmer in Airdrie that had gotten though all the HC hoops without requiring major expensive modifications to his greenhouse in order to meet security requirements. Unfortunately, despite getting the go-ahead from HC, the local municipality screwed him on a last-minute zoning bylaw amendment.

Have you any additional info on such a greenhouse? Because I'm with oddjob on this one. The regulations require a "building within a building", and that's strictly for security, not controlled environments or anything. That really doesn't leave much option for a greenhouse, unless you're taking serious liberty with what can be construed as a "building".

BTW, I will sign up to the first LP that calls themselves Soylent Green, because it's the fucking truth.

i don';t see any LP pollen chucking, honestly.. that takes a passion for the plant, where in my eyes most these guys are in it for the cash.

i think a decent idea (if it'd work, i'm not 100% sure all the rules) would be for them to contract breeders and get a lock on certain genetics.
"want stuff from X breeder, well we're the only LP in Canada that has them".. be a good sales pitch if they can get the top names. (and the breeders wouldn't have to stop pubic vending, just not to other LP's)

i'd hope most top breeders would scoff at them though ;)
They're not that smart and I hope that reputable breeders would tell them exactly where to get off too. They enjoy an oligarchy and they'll reinforce it by shoving their brand in your face every chance they get. It's almost good if it keeps the LP crap cleanly branched into its own irrelevance and then the GMO corn doesn't get out of the field, so to speak.

But as I discussed above, they seem entirely incapable of breeding competently. Even if they had the knowledge, they appear lacking in the skills to have the genetic profiles fully expressed. Genetics have already suffered degradation while they were breeding in Holland for a decade or more under nothing but HPS. The last thing we need is a repeat of that horror by a "medical program" that doesn't believe in terpenes because it can't produce them.

It's really just a waiting game, but unfortunately too many people can't afford to wait.
I've met numerous people who are getting into this for the wrong reason, but I've also met people getting into this for the right reason who intend to produce good product at a fair price and do the research and development to constantly improve.

The real question is whether or not "the masses" will be ok with the Wal-Mart brand and continue to fund Tweed/Tilray/other big companies to encourage what they're doing. I would go out on a branch and say that "true medical users" may only be a small subset of who ends up buying this product.

Agree completely, if it weren't for the initial investment I think we'd see more people who know wtf they're doing join this program, which in turn would benefit the only people it was meant to: the patients.. As a "true medical user" as you put it, I would never EVER buy the absolute garbage being pumped out by LP's. And that includes IF they EVER get their shit together. The price will never be there and neither will the quality. I'll stand by my Charter of Rights, and go to jail if I have to. If the gov't thinks for 1 blink of an eye that I'll be strong armed or bullied into what THEY deem best for me, they are SADLY mistaken. I wish they could spend a day in my shoes then they'd see why I'm not scared by something so stupid. When any day in my life could be the last day I am able to walk or have sensation in my body, shit like this new program makes me laugh.

The funny thing is that the LPs are hiring up the right people from time to time, paying them very well... and then making them do it their way instead.

"Hello expert. Here's lots of money because you're an expert. Now go do it our way instead of your way. Money first, medicine later"
