Hey guys, first time grower, I'm looking for some advice on how to deal with some plant problems. I am currently 4 weeks into growing a Auto NL in BioBizz All-Mix and have started to experience a cal/mag deficiency. I suspect this is as a result of the feed pH. My tap water is approximately 6.5 and when I add the feed it gets down to 5.5, after some research I discovered that a feed pH of between 7.0 and 7.3 would be ideal so I adjusted to 7.3. When I tested the run off it was at 5.0.
(Note: I had not been adjusting the pH of my water until my last feed)
I got in contact with BioBizz about this and this was their response:
Sorry to hear of your problems! Indeed, the pH of the soil is now to low, due to the very low pH of the water. The only thing you can do now is to re-pot the plants in fresh soil or take about 4-7 days to flush the soil out completely. The first option is the easiest one, but will require a new investment to get some new bags of soil. The second option can be speeded up a little bit if you use Alg-a-Mic during flushing ( 2-3 ml per liter ). It will not make the soil flush faster, but it will relieve the stress from the plants, so they are less affected by the process.
I decided to go with flushing as I don't want to re-pot the plant. As I'm new to this I've never had to flush before and I can't seem to find a post with the same issues as me. Would anyone be kind enough to let me know what I should be doing during the flush, if this is the right action and what I should expect during the process.
There have also been a lot of posts stating that cal-mag needs to be used along side the BioBizz range as it lacks in both calcium and magnesium, is there anyone in the UK who can confirm this?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Note: I don't have any pictures at the moment but can upload some later if required.
