Is odor present only during flower?

Common sense tells me odor onsets during flower, somewhat true??? What kind of odor should I expect with veg if any? Just got my beans from Herbies so now I've just got to get this closet situated. Thanks for helping out peep's, going to start slow with two plants...

it will still smell earthy during veg, all that soil, moisture, plant matter, warm air and the like (not to mention some ferts) can be just as much of a giveaway.

Yes I agree. It will still smell some during veg... But will intensify progressing thru flower

Depends on the steain and pheno type, dome plants stink less than others and some more than others and some just straight freaking reek!

My strain reeks once sexually mature and still in veg and only gets funkier in flower.

Every now and then you can get a pheno that will smell skunky during veg. It doesn't happen all of the time though. Most of the time you won't need a carbon filter while you are in veg. Sometimes I will only have to use the carbon filter for the last month of flowering. You will figure it out. Best of luck!

sometimes even youngsters can smell pungent

why do people refer to the smell of pot growing as odor, or stink, or smelly, when in fact it's one of the best smells on earth.

I literally have no smell precautions in place... But then again.. i'd never planned on growing again, I just got bitten by that grow bug and sprouted a bean without thinking twice.
It's also because the seasons changed and I decided to throw myself into gardening of all kinds.

Ime they just smell like tomatoes plants when vegging, but once in flower and especially when they start showing tri's that's when you know why skunk called skunk!I actually thought I had mould the first time I got a whiff of it,but then again different strains smell different.I wouldn't mind a sniff of someone's tent when they're exclusively growing Pineapple Express mmm

I was told my whole house smells like weed a week ago. The strains i'm growing are petty smelly, not all plants smell in veg. They were still in veg. In flower i get really paranoid because the guy who mows the lawn tells me he can smell it in the back yard.

pick the right strain an you can grow with 0 odour worries. Some strains, mainly sativas do not have the typical skunk stank. I've grown c99 a bunch of times and more than half of those times there has been no travelling smell right throughout flower. It smells when your leaning in on it , but then it's a fruity/ spicy smell. But reeks once you chop it down.

Scary part is, think about all the people who smell it and aren't telling you, but are telling OTHER people. Teenagers telling their friends "Hey, that guy must be a dealer!! Let's rob him!". Kids are fucked up today, and stealing grows is something they won't hesitate to do, because they are clueless.
Be very careful, and get your smell under control before you get robbed, pinched, or worse.

Very very true that. But its not just kids, there's plenty grown men won't think twice about robbing you either, hence why you tell no-one and keep giveaways such as odour in check. And you can hardly call 911 and tell them to get to your pad pronto cause someone's trying to rob your stash!
First rule for a successful grow-tell no-one!!!

Just setup odor control now. Waiting for the problem is just silly. Finish building the grow room before you sprout beans.
and I'd like to add... Do a dry run...
Meaning, set up your lights, and your fan, and see if the exhaust will pull enough air out to make a negative pressure in your closet...
With out negative pressure, the smell, heat, will escape through every orifice and seem, in your grow...
Dry run, also will allow you to see your heat temps from lights, and to dial in ALL correct...
